Be she wild or mild, she’s Nature’s child.
Did you know that the popular mustang, which is best known for being a wild horse, is actually a feral horse? This is because they’re descended from Colonial Spanish horses that were once domesticated. Some of these horses escaped into the wild, and their descendants were known as wild horses from then on.
In 1971, wild horses and burros were recognized by the US Congress as “living symbols of the historic and pioneer spirit of the West.” Not only that, but they also symbolize the outdoors, adventure, and freedom. These horses may be wild, but they’ll always have a home in our hearts.
