Posted by ColorIt Support on

And now we're in the final month of 2018! Before we begin a new contest, let's check out the winning entries for December Fan Of the Month contest.

Each winner will take home $25 ColorIt gift card, and they have a chance to double their prize if their winning entry includes ColorIt gel pens, pencils, markers or watercolor brush pens.

Three winners were picked based on set criteria and another three based on a random draw.

Here are the winning entries and exclusive interviews:
When did you first pick up a coloring book?
I can't remember the first time I picked up a coloring book, but I know it was very young because my family was living paycheck by paycheck, but one thing we could afford was coloring books and crayons.
Describe your perfect coloring atmosphere.
My perfect coloring atmosphere is when I am around my family and we are coloring with all our Colorit products laid out on the table and sharing ideas on how to make our artwork creative and original. It didn't hurt to have a glass of wine and some music playing in the background either.

Tell us about your creative process when you get ready to color.
My creative process usually begins by being inspired by artwork done by others. I will go on YouTube or Google and just search different ways to color using either pens, markers, or crayons then I start to come up with ideas on how I want to color my picture.

How has coloring changed or added to your life?
Coloring has always been a hobby, or an activity my family has enjoyed doing. I got married and was thrilled to know my husband's family enjoy coloring just as much as I do. Every chance we get to spend together we all bring our books and markers, pens, and crayons with us and just color away for a couple of hours. Coloring is something I couldn't live without and I love sharing this fun activity with my children.

What advice would you give someone who isn’t confident about their coloring technique?
The advice I'd give to anyone who isn't confident about coloring is that it will only improve over time. When I haven't colored in over some time I feel like I don't know what I am doing, but eventually, in about a week of coloring I begin to come up with color schemes and it starts to look good.

What’s your favorite ColorIt book? What title would you like to see in the future?
My favorite Colorit book is A Colorful Christmas. I had to buy it and fell absolutely in love with every page I flipped through. I wouldn't mind seeing an inspirational book, or journal with inspirational pages to color every 20 or so pages. I love seeing new products and I try to grab all I can.
Is there anything else you want to share about your love of coloring?
I would love to thank my mom-in-law and my sister-in-law who inspired me with ideas when I colored the design for the contest. I also want to thank my mom-in-law for introducing me to my ColorIt addiction, I think coloring wouldn't be so fun without all the amazing designs Colorit offers.
When did you first pick up a coloring book?
Probably when I was about 3 and paper dolls were my favorite.

Describe your perfect coloring atmosphere.
A place with not too many distractions and maybe music on or the TV on low.

Tell us about your creative process when you get ready to color.
I like to choose which book and page first then put out all the tools I might want to use as I work.

How has coloring changed or added to your life?
I lost my husband 4 years ago and coloring helps me put less stress, more color, and pleasure in my life, and I just love sharing.

What advice would you give someone who isn't confident about their coloring technique?
No worries this is art, there is no wrong or right way just give it a go and do what pleases you.

What's your favorite ColorIt book? What title would you like to see in the future?
I really enjoyed "A Colorful Christmas" would like to see a book dedicated to all Holidays or my wish would be a paper doll coloring book!
Is there anything else you want to share about your love of coloring?
Coloring can lead to all kinds of art activity and with the great tools Colorit provides you can create some amazing results.
When did you first pick up a coloring book?
I picked up my first Colorit coloring book in April 2017, after buying a number of books from Walmart, Dollar Tree, and others. The quality is so much better. I get most of my pages from Friday Freebies, and I have acquired quite a collection to color. I started with pencils, bought gel pens, regular and glitter, watercolors and finally markers. The entry that won was my first use of the markers. It is the set of 24, but I plan on getting the set of 48 to add to color options.

Describe your perfect coloring atmosphere.
I color mostly while watching (listening) to TV with my husband. I prefer coloring during the daytime as the lighting is best.

Tell us about your creative process when you get ready to color.
I usually pick out the main colors that I plan with the picture and add additional creative touches as I color.

How has coloring changed or added to your life?
Coloring is a calming time for me as I was working full time until August 2018. Now I am getting ready to retire and am looking forward to more time to color and relax.

What advice would you give someone who isn’t confident about their coloring technique?
My coloring technique is quite simple, and now I am experimenting with some shading and blending. I try not to overdo it. I keep trying different things on separate sheets of paper before I commit to a picture.
What’s your favorite ColorIt book? What title would you like to see in the future?
My favorite book is my first one..."Blissful Scenes". I especially like coloring flowers and would probably like to see something with just different flowers to color.
And here are the rest of the winners!
We love this colorful and mouthwatering candy pop page by Melissa Wright.
This lovely snowman family was colored by Robin Northup.
Sharlene Evans did an awesome job coloring each Christmas stockings.
