June has come and gone, but summer has just warmed up! The winners of our June Fan of the Month contest have definitely made sure our summers are off to a colorful start.
For our June Fan of the Month challenge, we asked our ColorIt family to color in any summer-themed ColorIt coloring page. Any page that happily reminds us of sunshine and fun times will do.
At the end of the month, the ColorIt team will choose three (3) submissions based on the set criteria and three (3) more random picks to keep things fun.
The 6 talented winners will then receive a $25 gift card from ColorIt. You can even double your prize amount if you color the page using any of our coloring mediums.

When did you first pick up a coloring book?
My first coloring books were in grade school in the 60's. My friends & I had those long porches & we would sit on the steps & color. We always gave each other 100's or A's because we were all friends. I bought my first adult coloring book in 1981 & it was funky snowflakes. I still have it till this day!

A friend of mine just bought a beautiful house with a window seat under a big window. I would love to color there on a sunny day. Until that happens, in my front yard, in the shade, under our maple tree because when it's too sunny I can't see right to color. The sun makes it hard to see what I am coloring if it's too bright. If it's a cloudy day or raining, on my couch with my Ott light & a good TV show or movie.

First I have to pick out what I am going to color. Sometimes I am just in the mood for flowers or Mandala's or I am in the mood for Christmas pictures or summer scenes. Then I have to decide what I want to use to color with: gel pens, with or without glitter, colored pencils, markers, water colors or all of them. I might even use Stickles, which is like glitter glue. I find my coloring bag which is where most of my coloring supplies are to use when I go with my mother for therapy (I sit for an hour in the waiting room coloring) & I put the book on my lap & start to color!

We had to take an aptitude test in 4th or 5th grade & it said when I grew up I should go into the arts & coloring is part of the arts. I was bullied in grade & high school so when I got to join some of the coloring sites & I wasn't bullied & people actually liked what I did, I was so excited! I couldn't believe people actually liked what I did because they never did before. It does my heart good to get all the likes or good jobs or whatever & it makes me feel so good! God gave me a talent & if I don't use it I will loose it so I have been using it big time!
What advice would you give someone who isn't confident about their coloring technique?
What advice would you give someone who isn't confident about their coloring technique?
I would look at other people's coloring on-line & think that mine wasn't that good & then I won this contest! Look at what other people do & ask questions if you can. Take a page from your coloring book & make copies & practice on them & then, when you like what you've done, color the one from the book. Try lots of different coloring tools until you feel like you like what you do but don't feel you have to buy everything to be a good colorist. All you need is a few things & maybe someday you will win something too!

I actually like a lot of them so it's hard to pick a favorite but I guess it would be the book I won from, Tropical Scenes. It has some amazing things to color!

I am a lover of the 60's. Hippies, VW Microbuses, peace symbols, rock music, op art, etc. I don't know if there is a book like this but if there isn't, there should be!

When I got my first adult coloring book in 1981, I took the snowflakes I colored out of the book, put them in lucite frames & gave them as Christmas gifts. I love bright colors & I not only color with them but wear them as well. Coloring makes me feel so good when I do it & when I get compliments, well, that's even better! When I make people smile, I know I am doing God's work, that he gave me this talent because he wants me to make people happy with what I do. I think I nailed it at 67! Have fun with your coloring like I do & you will be happy forever!

When my neurologist told me that coloring would help me with my two rare conditions of the eye Blepharospasm and Apraxia. So it is ColorIt.com therapy!

At my coloring table with all my markers laid out before me. I have over 100 markers I use.

I just color. I never really do anything special. It is for fun and I give all my pictures away and there have been 1,000s.
How has coloring changed or added to your life?
It keeps stress away and helps me see. When I color my eyes stay open when I don’t they close.
