Posted by ColorIt Support on

“Gratitude turns what we have into enough.” — Aesop
Fall isn’t just the season for spooky fun, it’s also the season where we pay more attention to what we have in life that we’re so grateful for. For us at ColorIt, we’re grateful for you, our coloring community. For all who submitted their work to our October Fan of the Month contest, thank you for being with us. Your participation makes this contest all the more fun!
For our October Fan of the Month challenge, we asked our ColorIt family to color in any ColorIt coloring page that features a fall theme or reminds them of the season of fall.
At the end of the month, the ColorIt team will choose three (3) submissions based on the set criteria and three (3) more random picks to keep things fun.
The 6 talented winners will then receive a $25 gift card from ColorIt. You can even double your prize amount if you color the page using any of our coloring mediums.

OCTOBER FAN OF THE MONTH WINNER: LAUREN BRECKLIN

When did you first pick up a coloring book?
I’ve always been artistic and enjoyed coloring as a child. But it wasn’t
until I became a new stay at home Mom that I picked up a coloring book
again. It was great having a new hobby during my children’s naps where I
could have my own time to unwind.
Describe your perfect coloring atmosphere.
My perfect coloring atmosphere would be anywhere that’s peaceful at my
home. Sometimes I like to listen to music or have the TV on in the
background. Outside coloring on a patio being surrounded by nature would be
ideal!
Tell us about your creative process when you get ready to color.
When I go to color I first have to choose an image that excites or
inspires me. I usually brainstorm how I want it to look and will write down
some ideas before I start. Sometimes I like to have a color palette picked
out and other times I just wing it as I go when choosing colors. Then
within the picture I start coloring in the area that interests me the most.
When I get stuck or can’t decide on a color or what to color next I usually
take a break and think it out before I continue on.
How has coloring changed or added to your life?
Coloring has definitely enhanced my life. It’s something that makes me
happy and lets me take time for myself. It’s also fun to share the hobby
with my family. I’ll often ask their opinions on a color combo that I’m
deciding between. My children will sometimes color along all using the same
picture. My whole family likes to use my art supplies, Most times I’ll
share too! 😉
What advice would you give someone who isn't confident about their coloring technique?
Advice that I would give to someone who is not confident about their
coloring technique would be not to give up. Keep practicing and practicing.
Maybe starting off focusing on smaller pictures might help or even
experimenting with different mediums. Whatever you do don’t compare your
work to others. Everyone has their own style, that’s what makes us all
unique and keeps art interesting.
What's your favorite ColorIt book?
My favorite ColorIt book would have to be “Blissful Scenes.” While I
love the themes of all of the books I feel like this book has a lot of
variety, which I enjoy when coloring.
What title would you like to see in the future?
I would love to see a book from ColorIt with the title “Woodland
Escapes.” It would center around a lakeside/wooded cabin area vacation or
getaway. It would include tourist town scenes, store fronts, lakes, water
activities, cabins, glamping, hiking, fishing, campfires etc.Thank you again for choosing me to be a winner for the ColorIt Fan of the Month! I will always have a love for coloring, its one of the things that defines me and lets my creativity be limitless. It’s fun to look back where I started and I can’t wait to see where it takes me next.

OCTOBER FAN OF THE MONTH WINNER: MARY ENGLES

When did you first pick up a coloring book?

I started adult coloring around 2015.

Describe your perfect coloring atmosphere.

Sitting on my couch with my tea or coffee relaxing with a movie to listen to while I color.

Tell us about your creative process when you get ready to color.

When I pick a picture it's normally one that I can see colored already and I have the colors picked out in my mind. But I sometimes just like to pick colors as I go!

How has coloring changed or added to your life?

It helps tremendously with stressful everyday life. It's fun for me and helps pass the time.

What advice would you give someone who isn't confident about their coloring technique?

Don't stress! Everyone colors differently and it will come out beautiful and unique to you! Sometimes putting to much thought into your picture ruins the experience for you. Just go with what your feeling.

What's your favorite ColorIt book?

The Native American Spirit illustrated by Terbit Basuki

What title would you like to see in the future?

Hmm I'm gonna say a whole book of Mermaids.
