JULY 2021 FAN OF THE MONTH WINNERS

Posted by ColorIt Support on

“Let’s all celebrate and have a good time.” — Kool & The Gang
July was a time of looking back at all we’ve seen, done, and enjoyed in the past six months. And now that July is coming to a close, we’re going to give six lucky colorists a reason to celebrate!
For our July Fan of the Month challenge, we asked our ColorIt family to color in any page from our Celebrations adult coloring book.
At the end of the month, the ColorIt team will choose three (3) submissions based on the set criteria and three (3) more random picks to keep things fun.
The 6 talented winners will then receive a $25 gift card from ColorIt. You can even double your prize amount if you color the page using any of our coloring mediums.
Excited to know who made it to our list this month? Get to know our Fan of the Month winners with our exclusive interviews below:

JULY FAN OF THE MONTH WINNER: CAROL PAINTER

When did you first pick up a coloring book?

I first started coloring in 2014. My best friend picked up a coloring book while we were on vacation and I decided to try it, too.

Describe your perfect coloring atmosphere.

My favorite place to color is in the mountains near where I live. There is a place I like to go to on vacation where I can sit out on a balcony that overlooks a rushing creek. The crisp, cool air, the sound of the water, and the view of the mountains is my perfect place to color.

Tell us about your creative process when you get ready to color.

When I get ready to color, I first find something inspiring to listen to. After choosing the page I want to color, I look at the elements in the picture and choose the main colors I would like to use. I usually like to use a somewhat limited color palette. After that, I just go with whatever I feel like would look good in the moment. I don't really do a lot of preplanning.

How has coloring changed or added to your life?

Coloring is so important to me! It is so relaxing and has helped me through a lot of tough times. I have learned a lot about myself and it has opened the door for me to try other creative art forms. I think of myself as an artist now when I never would have imagined that earlier in my life.

What advice would you give someone who isn't confident about their coloring technique?

I would tell them that there are no coloring police! No one is going to tell you that you are doing it wrong. Be kind and patient with yourself. How you express yourself is unique to you. If there is a specific skill that you would like to learn more about, watch videos of other colorists online. Don't be afraid to try! I have learned so many new techniques by accident when what I had intended to do went wrong. Just enjoy it!

What's your favorite ColorIt book?

There are so many to choose from! I think my absolute favorite is Delightful Desserts and Sweet Treats by Jackielou Pareja and Patrick Bucoy.

What title would you like to see in the future?

I would like something with some cute Chibis.

Is there anything else you want to share about your love of coloring?

Don't be afraid to try new things in your coloring books. It's just paper. Make time to color and create every day. Enjoy every minute of it!
